Arctic Economic and Security Corridor

A vital transportation link connecting communities and regions through the NWT into Nunavut, extending to a port on the Arctic Ocean.

Mackenzie Valley Highway

A two-lane gravel highway that will replace the Mackenzie Valley Winter Road between Wrigley and Norman Wells.

Taltson Hydro Expansion

A transformative clean energy initiative that will double the Northwest Territories’ hydro capacity by connecting the Snare hydro system with the Taltson hydro system.

Major investments in housing

Projects to increasing access to safe, modern, and energy-efficient housing across the territory. 

Aspen Apartments

The 36-unit building will improve the quality of social housing in the Northwest Territories.

Yellowknife 50-plex

This new multi-unit complex will include 25 barrier-free units for seniors and individuals with accessibility needs and 25 two-bedroom units for small families.

New modular homes in communities

A major modular housing project that will deliver 98 new homes across Ulukhaktok, Tuktoyaktuk, Inuvik, Délı̨nę, Tulita, Fort Simpson, Fort Providence, Behchokǫ̀, and Fort Smith.

Dehk’è Frank Channel Bridge Replacement

Replacing the bridge to make travel safer, support more traffic, and allow larger and heavier loads to move north to nearby communities and the mineral-rich Slave Geological Province.

Inuvik Airport Runway Improvement

Airfield improvements and repairs will increase the resiliency of the airport to the effects of climate change and help protect the permafrost below the airport.

Redknife River Bridge

The existing structure at Redknife River will be replaced with a bridge to reestablish upstream passage for migratory fish.

Deh Cho Bridge Project

The Deh Cho Bridge is a 1.045 kilometre cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Mackenzie River near Fort Providence on Highway 3.

Hay River Harbour Restoration Project

An initiative to improve navigation in Hay River Harbour by removing excess sediment.

Inuvik Tuktoyaktuk Highway Project

The Inuvik Tuktoyaktuk Highway (ITH) is a new, 138 kilometre highway from Inuvik to Tuktoyakuk.

Tłı̨chǫ Highway Project

The Tłı̨chǫ Highway is a new highway that provides all-weather access from Highway 3 west of Yellowknife to the community of Whatì.

École Įtłʼǫ̀

École J.H. Sissons School was built in 1975 in Yellowknife. The school closed in June 2020, and a two-year build began on the existing J.H. Sissons site.

Mangilaluk School major renovation

The renovation of Mangilalik school will see the building of a new 534-square metre gymnasium and a standalone 220-square metre career and technology studies building.
