The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has made changes to the Business Stream of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program to decrease the eligible investment amount and to make it easier for applicants to start a business in the territory and secure permanent residence in Canada.
Effective as of August 2, 2023, the investment amounts needed to join the program have decreased.
If you plan to invest and operate your business within Yellowknife, you will now need $200,000 (previously $300,000).
If you plan to invest and operate your business outside Yellowknife, you will now need $100,000 (previously $150,000).
The Business Stream provides a pathway to Canadian permanent residence for experienced businesspeople who establish themselves, invest, and operate a viable business in the Northwest Territories that significantly benefits the economy.
The investment requirements are to satisfy eligibility criteria determined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and under the Canada-Northwest Territories Agreement on territorial nominees.
