Oral health is an important part of the overall health
For pregnant women!
Your oral health during pregnancy is very important. Achieving and maintaining good oral health can have a positive impact on your unborn baby!
It is important to take care of your teeth and gums during pregnancy for many reasons, such as:
- Hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect the gums, making them more sensitive to swelling and bleeding
- Reducing your risk for oral diseases, such as developing gingivitis (gum) and periodontal (bone) disease
- Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy can leave acids in your mouth increasing the risk of tooth decay.
As a result, it is important to brush your teeth for two minutes, twice a day, using a fluoride toothpaste, and to floss once a day to clean between the teeth where the toothbrush can’t reach.

Even before they have teeth!
Keeping a baby’s mouth clean gets them used to the routine, reduces the risk of cavities, and will make teething and toothbrushing easier for you both as time goes on.
Healthy baby teeth are very important for chewing, learning to talk, and keeping space for adult teeth to grow in properly. Good oral care early leads to better oral health for a baby now and in the future.

As we age, cavities develop on the roots of teeth. Bacteria from the mouth can travel through the body, affecting overall health.
Dentures require as much care as natural teeth. Food and bacteria on dentures form plaque, which can cause cavities on any remaining teeth.
