New Bilingual Literacy Outreach Centre Opens in Yellowknife

Collège nordique francophone (CNF), NWT Literacy Council and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) are proud to announce the official opening of a new bilingual literacy outreach centre in Yellowknife.
Located within the CNF premises, the centre offers services in both French and English to meet the diverse needs of learners, families, and individuals seeking literacy support and skills development. The GNWT is providing $400,000 in funding as part of its commitment to supporting accessible adult learning opportunities across the territory.
Built on a collaborative model, the project draws on the complementary expertise of both Collège nordique francophone and the NWT Literacy Council. It offers a range of activities and services, including:
Family and community literacy programs
Workshops focused on digital, financial, and employment-related skills
Tutoring services
English and French language courses
The centre, which officially opens today, provides an accessible and inclusive environment that supports residents in developing the skills and confidence to thrive in their community.

Quick facts
Collège nordique francophone is the only accredited French-language post-secondary institution north of the 60th parallel, offering opportunities to develop linguistic and professional skills or pursue studies in French. Its student community is composed of individuals from various communities across the Northwest Territories and beyond.
The NWT Literacy Council is a territorial non-profit organization and registered charity. The organization supports communities through training, resources, research, and literacy programs that encourage lifelong learning and active participation in community life.
