New Modular Duplex in Paulatuk to Replace and Upgrade Social Housing Units

Housing NWT has completed construction of a new three-bedroom modular duplex in Paulatuk, adding two new social housing units that will replace homes operating beyond their service life in the community. The replacement homes will address local housing needs by maintaining access to suitable housing for families in the Beaufort Delta region.
The new duplex was prefabricated and transported to Paulatuk for on-site assembly. This construction approach helps shorten build timelines, manage costs and reduce risks associated with remote construction, while ensuring the homes are designed for long-term durability in northern conditions.
These new units will replace older homes that are beyond the end of their service life, supporting long-term sustainability in Paulatuk’s social housing system.
This investment supports the GNWT mandate commitment to increase the suitability, accessibility and affordability of housing across the territory.
Delivering this new modular duplex for social housing in Paulatuk is part of the GNWT’s broader work to improve housing outcomes in smaller and remote communities, where access to safe and suitable housing can have a significant impact on family well-being and community stability.
